Nrithya Jagannathan

Nrithya Jagannathan is our visiting instructor for special workshops and co-leader for international yoga retreats.
She is a Senior Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapy Consultant at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram with over 20 years of experience. Nrithya recently became the Director of Yoga Studies at the KYM. She has had the blessing of studying under world-renowned yoga master Sri TKV Desikachar and also under other senior teachers from the KYM tradition. She is a visiting instructor to Mobile and co-leads all of the Above and Beyond Yoga Retreats with Shoshana.

She is currently a senior faculty member at the KYM Institute of Yoga Studies and the Department of Healing Chants teaching classes on Yoga Philosophy, Vedic Chanting, Indian Culture, Application of Yoga and other allied subjects for both Indian and International students.

Nrithya has traveled extensively around the world, teaching yoga and chanting. She was part of the KYM World Tour in 2005 that covered several cities across the world including three cities in the USA. Nrithya has traveled to and taught in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Argentina, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, France, and China. She has been a keynote speaker at the International Yoga Festival at Rishikesh for three consecutive years 2015, 2016, and 2017. She was also part of the team that represented the KYM at the Indo-China Yoga Festival at Qingdao in October-November 2015 and again at the Yoga Festival in Kunming, China in May 2016. She also led the International Yoga Day Protocol at yoga events organized by The Consul General of India at Tonglu, Wenzhou, Shanghai, and Wushi in June 2017.

She is a member of KYM’s Academic Council and is also on the list of examiners approved by the Quality Council of India (QCI) for the Standardization of Yoga Practitioners Examination conducted under the aegis of the Indian Yoga Association. Nrithya has been appointed as Visiting Yoga Therapist and Consultant, representing KYM, at Smrthi Clinic, a multi-specialty clinic for adults and children in Chennai India. Nrithya is also an invited guest faculty, for the Department of Psychology, WCC College for Women Chennai, as part of a module on Yoga and its applications in therapy for the students of M.S. Psychology. She was an invited guest faculty at IIT Jodhpur in March 2015. Nrithya has been invited as a resource person at various conferences and seminars held at various venues in India and abroad. Recently she was invited as a resource person at a two-day orientation program on Yoga Therapy for Medical Practitioners hosted by the Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, a unit of the Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT)in Bangalore.

Nrithya Jaganathan holds a Master’s degree in Communications and is also a professional Bharathanatyam artist. She has over 1000 stage shows to her credit and has been the recipient of numerous awards for recognition of her proficiency as a dancer. Nrithya is currently completing her Ph.D. in “Yoga and Natya,” at SCSVMV University, Kanchipuram. Nrithya currently heads the KYM-Media department and has published numerous articles on yoga in both national and international journals. She is also anchoring the daily morning yoga show being aired on Vanavil TV, a Tamil television channel.

Nrithya is married and lives in Chennai India with her family.
